Stand With Her

The Stand With Her program provides legal aid, temporary housing and therapy to victims of domestic violence and their children in Brazil.

40 USD can help a victim of domestic violence and their children get therapy, legal assistance, food packages, a shelter room to stay in emergency situations & financial assistance to pay for her kid’s school fee in case she needs to relocate.

Project Description

Almost 40% of Brazilian women will have encountered some form of physical abuse by the age of 16.

There are approximately 14 assaults per minute across the country.

January 2024 saw a 26% increase in abuse compared to the year prior.

Domestic violence is now one of the highest contributors to the country’s mortality.

While changes to legislation are slowly improving, these changes do not often translate into practice in the lives of victims.

Stand With Her is led by Juliana Soria, a Brazilian lawyer dedicated to helping protect victims of domestic violence.

Despite limited funding and resources, Juliana has helped dozens of women and families escape violence by offering the minimum that these woman need to get out of those situations which is:

  • Accessible legal support
  • Temporary housing
  • Therapy

However, Juliana receives a staggering 100 requests for support each week and can only take on a few cases per week.

She requires your support to help more women and grow the network of lawyers working with Stand With Her.

Compassiviste Foundation has partnered with Juliana to raise the necessary funding to help more victims of domestic violence.

How does your donation help?

Your donations to the project support and protect victims by providing legal fees, food and safe-house costs, therapy, and travel costs. Your donations also allow Juliana’s office to expand.

Your support helps in the following ways:

— $40 | cost for full support for 1 woman and accompanying children

— $80 | cost for full support for 2 women and accompanying children

— $120 | cost for full support for 3 women and accompanying children

— $4000 | cost of expanded capacity for full support of 100 women and accompanying children

— $8000 | cost of expanded capacity for full support of 200 women and accompanying children

The gradual growth of the Stand With Her team, will help creating a system that helps woman victims of domestic violence in Brazil that lack the resources to hire a lawyer. Juliana can help those woman, the most vulnerable, get out of the situation they are.
